Internet Searches

One of the things I plan to do with My S1 pupils is smart internet searches and in keeping with the theme of bands and music I'm looking for any questions people can suggest.

Leave a comment below if you can think of any for them to do

Clearly they will need to look for information on the greatest band in the world... ever! Namely Rush. Your pupils may find it interesting to speculate why such a magnificent band has not been inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (despite 34 years together with the same line up, 24 gold records and 14 platinum including 3 multi-platinum records)!

:-)

More seriously, what sort of thing are you looking for? If they are big music fans and follow one band in particular, they may be able to tidy up the band's wikipedia entry, for example by searching for and adding references to back up unsubstantiated assertions.

It was more general searching I was thinking of as part of the Information Technology qualification they're to do but I like the idea for using wiki.

Possibly getting that involved with PSHE as well for social responsibilities since anyone can edit it what stops people from messing pages up.

It's not an original idea. I thought it was Will Richardson that I first read suggesting it but if it was, I can't find the post I'm thinking of. :-) The closest I can get from Will is http://weblogg-ed.com/2005/i-wiki-law/
